From Vision to Vows: Crafting Stevee & Bri’s Wedding Wardrobe with Morni

Morni’s expertise in custom fashion met its perfect match with Stevee and Bri’s vision for their Yosemite National Park wedding. This case study explores how Morni transformed the couple’s ideas into beautifully tailored suits for Stevee and his groomsmen, seamlessly integrating elements of nature, vintage aesthetics, and personal touches that made their wedding attire.

Vision

When Stevee and Bri came to Morni, they brought with them a dream of wedding suits for the groom and groomsmen, that would feel right at home amidst the stunning views of Yosemite National Park. They imagined attire that would complement the earthy tones of the park and the dresses of the bridesmaids. With Bri’s interest in floral jewelry, they envisioned suits sprinkled with floral designs that reflected her creative touch. More than anything, they wanted these suits to echo the vintage charm of timeless romance, perfectly suiting the grandeur of their big day.

Challenge

Crafting 10 suits for Stevee and groomsmen in less than 45 days was no small feat. Here’s what we were up against:

  • Vintage Vibes with a Modern Twist: Finding the perfect blend of old-school charm and modern sophistication in fabrics and designs that spoke of ages past yet screamed comfort and style.

  • The Perfect Palette and Patterns: It wasn’t just about picking colors; it was about choosing shades that whispered of woodland settings and sunset hues, and integrating floral motifs in a way that felt both artistic and authentically vintage.

  • Simple vs. Statement: Crafting suits for groomsmen who prefer 'less is more' while incorporating enough flair to make the day special was our creative conundrum. We aimed for that middle ground—enough detail to dazzle but not so much that it felt over the top.

  1. Selecting the Right Silhouette:

    • Stevee's Suit: We opted for a '70s inspired silhouette to blend timeless elegance with modern comfort. A double-breasted jacket paired with relaxed pants provided a stylish yet comfortable ensemble suitable for the grand setting of Yosemite. Inside, a mandarin shirt added a royal, ethnic touch to his attire, aligning with the wedding’s vintage and natural themes.

    • Groomsmen Suits: The groomsmen wore single-breasted peak lapel jackets that were less ornate but equally stylish, ensuring they complemented Stevee without overshadowing him.

      2. Harmonizing Colors:

    • The groomsmen’s suits were crafted in butterscotch beige, a choice inspired by the need to harmonize with the bridesmaids' dresses and the natural surroundings.

    • Stevee’s suit was in a distinguished dark brown, setting him apart from his groomsmen and enhancing the earthy theme of the wedding.

    3. Choosing the Right Fabric:

    • Given the outdoor setting and the warm weather of Yosemite during the wedding, we selected summer tropical cotton blends. These fabrics were not only suitable for the temperature but also added to the suits' breathability and comfort.

Morni’s Approach

4. Artwork Incorporation:

  • The chosen artwork was inspired by a 17th-century Mughal painting that resonated deeply with Bri and complemented her floral jewelry designs. This historical element was crucial in bringing a piece of art to life through modern tailoring.

    5. Strategic Placement of Design Elements:

    • Stevee’s Suit: A band across the waist gave Stevee’s outfit a ceremonial look, while a special flower embroidered over the heart symbolized his dedication to Bri. This personal touch added a layer of meaning to his attire.

    • Groomsmen’s Suits: Each jacket featured two floral elements strategically placed to foster a sense of fraternity among the groomsmen. The embroidery on the pocket flaps was designed to be versatile, allowing each groomsman to display or hide the floral detail according to their personal style and comfort level.
